South Africa is really the gateway to southern Africa and for many travellers it is the starting point for those making the journey south.
South Africa is probably one of the easier of the African countries to travel around and with so much to see and do in this amazing country it is not surprising that it is so often described as a world in one country. It is a land of spectacular beauty (more than 5 times the size of the British Isles) and offers visitors to its shores something for everyone whether it be a gourmet or a more laid back holiday you are looking for.
Also adventure at every turn with the most spectacular wildlife and game viewing offered by foot, vehicle or horse- or elephant-back. Also abseiling, white water rafting, hot air ballooning and incredible walking routes. But for those wanting to relax and unwind you can certainly do that as well.
The South African coastline offers both the warmer Indian Ocean and the colder Atlantic Ocean and comes complete with whales, turtles, dolphins, seals, great white sharks and the wonderful African penguins. For those wanting a taste of South Africa’s interesting and colourful history then there is plenty of that with some of the fiercest battles fought at Isandhlwana and Rourkes Drift as well as the different African cultures found throughout the country.
